Much like its well-known PCMCIA cousin, the NL-2511 MP long range card combines a whopping 200mW (23dBm) transmitter with terrific receive sensitivity. Great for embedded projects like wireless routers and stompboxes. The 2511 can also be purchased as part of a mini pci kit complete with pigtail and/or antenna.
Based on the PRISM 2.5 chipset, the NL-2511 MP works in Linux, BSD, and Windows. It is 802.11b compliant and operates in the 2.4GHz ISM band.
Features:
- IEEE 802.11b compliant radio automatically scales to 11Mbps, 5.5Mbps, 2Mbps, or 1Mbps depending on conditions
- 200mW (23dBm) transmit power
- Very good receive sensitivity
- Two U.FL connectors (use with a pigtail to connect to an antenna)
- 64/128bit WEP encryption
- Will act as an access point in Linux or BSD
- Mini PCI (type III-A) package works with newer laptops and embedded computers
